Reflection of Monday,
February 25th 2013
The topic of the day is the problem of mathematics
teaching. Mr. Marsigit said, based of teaching is showing atraditional method
of teaching and learning of mathematic. The teacher just gave an idea to
student like discourse and it’s made the student study passively, bored, and
sleepy. Then, if teacher just transfer of knowledge, it look that unconvinced
teacher to student.
Ought to the teacher using various methods, resource, and
equipment. Actually, the principle in anywhere and anytime is growing. And the
respons of student is unpredictable. Then, not easy to using an inovative
method because our culture is discourse since long time until now. Reality of
teaching is nature. The nature of all respons of teaching and learning of
mathematic. So, Mr. Marsigit’s opinion is the problem teaching coming from
adult, not from the younger. Teacher forcing student receive an idea that
teacher gave.
Principle, teaching mathematic divided by two. One, the
formal mathematic. Formal mathematic is using for university level that the
substance is axiomatic mathematic and pure mathematic. Two, school mathematic.
School mathematic to be executed in elementary school, junior high school and
senior high school (an on an equal). Ebutt and Staker said, school mathematic
convering:
1. Mathematic
is a seach of pathern and relationship,
2. Mathematic
is a problem solving activity,
3. Mathematic
is an investigation activity, and
4. Mathematic
is the mean of communication.
And, to know
mathematic, teacher must using the nature of school mathematic.
From the picture, we
can see about the level of mathematic teaching. In first until third level are
about schooll mathematic. The student to be defined about concret mathematic,
model mathematic, and model form. Example, teacher looked locker to student.
Then, the student draw locker and write that they had been seeing.
That
is the way of teaching mathematic in school. The student can not giving number
and symbol. But, make they understand the substance of mathematic. Not
everything of mathematic can defined. Don’t make the student missing intuition
when study mathematic.
